Each year, Red Mountain Hounds opens up it's premier Hunt
Country, Quail Roost Farm, for it's Hunter Pace Competition. A Hunter Pace is a
competitive trail ride designed to closely match the excitement of the Foxhunt.
This year our members are planning three wonderful courses that allow you enjoy our
beautiful country side at Quail Roost Farm. I hope you plan to attend.

Final Results of the 2006/2007 Saddle Pad
Competition
(updated August 16, 2007)
There are four divisions. Each division is designed to closely match the
excitement of a Foxhunt. Teams of two or more riders follow a flagged course through
our actual hunt territory, with the goal to complete the course as close an ideal
time as possible. Two awards will be given to 1st-6th place in each division and mailed to
Rider#1 on the entry form.
Open Divisions
 | Strollers: A relaxed and leisurely
stroll through our hunt country. For the ultra young, beginning rider or horse or the
faint of heart. Pace is 4 MPH. Distance is 3-6 miles.

 | Hill Topper: For sporty riders who
prefer a fast pace through the hunt country. Jumps up to 2'9" are optional. Pace is 6
MPH. Distance is 8-12 miles.

 | First Flight: For riders who enjoy a
challenging ride. Jumps up to 2'9" are optional. Pace is 8 MPH. Distance is 8-12
miles.

 | Full Cry:For those seeking a very fast
pace and the thrill of what fox hunting is really like. Jumps not exceeding 3' are
mandatory. Pace is 10 MPH. Distance is 8-12 miles.

ENTRY FEES: $35.00 per adult rider & $25.00 per junior
(under 18) rider. Entries and registration will be taken on site the day of the hunter
pace.
Protective headgear is mandatory for all participants. Riding
helmets for English riders and riding helmets or western hats for western riders. No
watches or measuring devices allowed. All dogs must be kept on leash at all times.

A negative Coggins on all horses is required.Entry fees are not
refundable, but substitutions are permitted. Make checks payable to Red Mountain hounds.
Directions to Quail Roost: From I-85 N in Durham,
exit Rt. 501- North/Roxboro Road. Approximately 13 miles, left into Quail Roost Farm
Road(look for yellow barns) Continue straight until the road turns to gravel. Turn right
just before the gravel and park behind the yellow barn.

There were plenty of jumps for anyone wishing to
jump.


Jumps are optional and all jumps have go-arounds.


Western riders enjoyed the great trails.


This team was well turned out! The student riders
wore red and their instructor wore blue.
