Each fall we gather for food and fellowship to celebrate the coming season. The pre-season party includes a “puppy show” to introduce the young hounds that will begin hunting that season. There is a silent auction available to “buy a puppy”…this gives you bragging rights to that young entry through-out the season and a chance to win a prize at the end of the season if your puppy is picked by the huntsman as the best new entry. Details will be posted below and on our Facebook page when available.
September 15th at the Kennels
Red Mountain Hounds kicks off the formal season with our Opening Meet on the first Saturday of November. Spectators are welcome to attend the Blessing of the Hounds and to see the hunt move off. Limited seats are also available on the Tally Ho wagon, for those spectators wishing to follow the hunt and witness the beauty and excitement of riding to hounds. Details will be posted below and on our Facebook page when available.
November 2nd at Quail Roost Farm
Red Mountain Hounds holds an annual Hunt Ball at Treyburn Country Club in Durham. Typically held in February, this is a formal, black tie event featuring a three course meal and a live band. The ball also serves as one of our largest fund-raising events: a live auction, silent auction, and several raffles help to raise money for the care of the hounds and upkeep of our facilities. Guests are welcome to attend. Please contact the Honorary Hunt Secretary for an invitation.
SUMMER TRAIL RIDES
Several trail rides and moonlight rides are hosted throughout the summer. These rides are fund-raisers for the club, and are open to the public. Bring your friends! Attire is casual, helmets and negative coggins are required. Light refreshments are often included. Details and dates will be posted below and on our Facebook page when available.
