About Us
The Red Mountain Hounds Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our mission is to preserve, protect, and promote the heritage, traditions, and environmental values associated with mounted hunting with hounds while fostering land conservation, horsemanship education, youth participation, and historical preservation in the Hill Forest region and surrounding countryside of Rougemont, North Carolina.
The Foundation’s programs will benefit the general public through increased access to open land and trail systems, educational opportunities for youth and adults, preservation of North Carolina’s rural history, and promotion of humane animal care and responsible land use.
The Foundation aims to lease or partner with landowners to secure, maintain, or improve open land and trail systems for public benefit, educational use, or protetion of wildlife habitats.
Land Conservation and Trail Maintenance
We reguarly conduct or support clinics, seminars, and demonstrations that promote safe and responsible horsemanship, hound care, and stewardship of rural land.
Educational Programs and Community Outreach
Support Animal Welfare
The Foundation will promote the humane treatment, good health practices, and ethical care of hounds and horses used in educational and demonstration settings. This includes supporting veterinary care, proper housing, and retirement programs when needed.
Charitable contributions will be used exclusively for supporting educational and conservation programs, leasing or maintaining land and trails for non-profit use, improvements of properties for public use, care and support of animals, and preservation of historical and environmental assets for public education. No portion of funds will benefit private individuals.
